Park & Trail Alerts
Projects, storm damage and flooding can temporarily close sections of trails and sometimes our parks. Visitors are encouraged to check for updates before their visit and to follow all posted trail and parking area closing signs. For safety reasons, trails are closed to all users while trail crews are using equipment to complete repairs and maintenance. The following list reflects the most up to date trail closings and construction projects.

Canal Park

Roundtown Trail

Pickaway Trail

Status Alert – Open

The trail will be closed periodically as the neighboring farm operation runs their irrigation machines, harvests or plants. Contact ahartzler@pickawaycountyohio.gov or 7404205451 for more information The trail is Currently not open from S.R. 104 to Sisk Road due to the trail not having a bridge connection at Lick Run.

Metzger Preserve

Scioto Darby Road Big Darby Creek Access

Status Alert – Open

To protect our National Scenic River, which is home to several endangered and threatened species, and to minimize habitat disturbance please do not paddle when flow is below 150 CFS. Please check Here and look for the number after “Discharge, cubic feet per second : Most recent instantaneous value:” before planning a float. The site will also be closed November through April due to low flow.

Park District Headquarters and Genevieve Jones Preserve

Status Alert – Closed

The Parks District's has moved our headquarters to the former golf course club house. The building is opening Monday-Friday 8:00 am - 4:00 pm but will occasionally be closed during regular office hours as our staff is out at other facilities and meetings. Appalachia Ohio Alliances' Genevieve Jones Preserve will remain closed to the public until late 2024. You can learn more about this project here.

Other Park Notices

Calamus Swamp

Status Alert – Open

As of Sept 9th, 2024: Restoration work has begun at Calamus Swamp for invasive plant species removal.  There will be spraying and physical removal work for approximately the next year. There will be sections of trail that will be closed periodically throughout this time as restoration work is completed. Please exercise good judgement when visiting Calamus Swamp.
