The Pickaway County Park District is excited to announce that we have received grant funds to build a bridge over the Ohio- Erie Canal on the Pickaway Trail! The District put a ODNR Clean Ohio Trail Fund grant in for this project in 2019 and, after a delay due to Covid-19, were awarded $303,402 to make this connection in the spring of 2021. This connection is a part of the Districts larger plan to make an accessible connection for trail users from the Canal Road – Pickaway Trail parking lot to the eastern extent of the trail that will one day connect to the City of Circleville with a second bridge over the Scioto River.
Bridge engineering and design work has begun on this project and construction of the bridge is expected to break ground in late 2022 early 2023.
