Things for Kids to Do!! The playground at Canal Park is now open, let the fun begin! This one of a kind playground features climbing equipment, a large climbing net, two ziplines, three embankment slides and lots of fun unique to this park. We hope that you will come out and bring your family to enjoy the space.
This playground was developed in partnership with Toni Tootles 4th grade class from Washington Elementary School. Park District Staff teamed up with the students for a problem based learning project where the kids learned about the park and the Ohio-Erie Canal system and then researched play equipment that they would like to see. The 4th grade class then surveyed the rest of the elementary school to determine what they would like to see at the park. The playground was then build by Pine Valley Construction with the assistance of Park District Staff with help from a donation from the Dunlap Foundation.
